Step Forward

I’ve been putting this off for several months, but I think it’s finally time to officially take a step forward and put myself out there. Deciding to make a more intentional effort into building custom furniture is something that is both exhilarating and terrifying. Exhilarating because I’ve been intrigued by furniture and woodworking now for well over a decade, yet terrifying because I have no formal training or education when it comes to furniture making.

I’ll introduce myself in a later post, but in general, the thought behind my exploration into furniture and bringing those along who care to follow is simply to share the experiences I have, the progress of developing techniques, the passage through life, and if possible help encourage others, who like me, are hesitant to trust that they can be capable of making beautiful things that others will appreciate and find value in.

As this officially begins I’d like to thank my Mother, who a few weeks before she passed gave me what turned out to be the final dose of encouragement that I needed to give fine furniture making an honest effort and see what comes of it. I love you, Mom. I’d also like to thank my wife for believing in me and encouraging me every step of the way, even when things are difficult and I feel far from where I’d like to be. I love you dearly!

Let’s see where this goes! But for now, this is my first “Step Forward”
